About The Position

All-Equip and Platinum Trailers is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter for a full-time, on-site position. This role offers a varied work environment, including production runs, custom one-offs, and prototype builds, utilizing a full range of skills. The company is a family-owned business, a leader in trailer manufacturing and heavy equipment repair, known for its practical, field-tested approach to design and manufacturing. The Welder/Fitter will work across both production and custom fabrication, building repeat-run trailer components, fitting up one-off prototypes, and tackling custom orders. The role suits individuals who take pride in their craft and thrive on diverse challenges.

Requirements

3–5+ years of welding and fitting experience in a fabrication, trailer, or heavy-equipment environment.
Proficiency in aluminum and steel welding — MIG required, TIG a strong asset.
Strong fitting skills: able to read drawings, lay out parts, check tolerances, and build accurate assemblies.
Experience in both production and custom fabrication settings.
Ability to build, modify, or work with jigs and fixtures to support repeatability and accuracy.
Comfortable with prototyping, one-off builds, and solving fit-up challenges on the fly.
Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
Solid understanding of weld quality standards, distortion control, and proper heat management.
Strong problem-solving instincts and attention to detail.
Genuine pride in the quality of your work.
Completion of a welding apprenticeship or equivalent trade certification required.

Nice To Haves

TIG welding proficiency is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for both production builds and custom projects.
Fit, assemble, and weld aluminum and steel components with precision — proper alignment, tolerances, and structural integrity every time.
Perform production welding on repeat-run trailer components while maintaining consistent quality and efficiency.
Support custom fabrication and prototyping by building one-off parts, test assemblies, and new design concepts.
Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to solve fit-up challenges and refine prototype designs.
Select appropriate welding processes (MIG/TIG) and parameters based on material type, thickness, and project requirements.
Use jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure accurate fit-up and repeatability.
Operate fabrication equipment including saws, torches, grinders, hoists, and welding machines.
Inspect welds and assemblies against internal quality standards and customer specifications.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area — proper PPE and safety procedures are non-negotiable.
