About The Position

Crux Subsurface runs geotechnical and foundation construction projects across the country. This shop keeps that equipment running. This is a welding and fabrication role in a heavy equipment shop. You'll fabricate and repair drilling rigs and custom components — working across MIG steel, TIG aluminum, and general mechanical maintenance. The work is varied, the equipment is heavy and technical, and the shop supports active projects in the field. If you have the skills and take pride in quality work, there's plenty of it here.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year fabrication experience in a professional shop setting
  • Proficiency in GMAW and FCAW of mild steel
  • Ability to consistently produce welds that are structural and aesthetically clean
  • Basic mechanical background
  • Basic computer skills to submit time card, look up records, submit work order updates, etc
  • Blueprint reading experience including weld form symbols
  • Your own basic set of mechanics hand tools, SAE wrenches/sockets, screwdrivers, pliers
  • Your own welding hood and steel-toed boots
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure

Nice To Haves

  • TIG/MIG aluminum welding experience
  • Heavy Equipment experience
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification, preferred not required
  • Familiarity with an ironworker (Piranha) and hydraulic press, preferred not required
  • Dial caliper and indicator proficiency
  • Operate metalworking equipment: lathe, mill, drill press, preferred not required

Responsibilities

  • MIG weld mild steel and alloys; TIG and MIG weld aluminum
  • Plasma and gas cutting of metals
  • Operate Abrasive cabinet and wash bay to clean parts and equipment before repairs
  • Fabricate and repair components for drilling rigs and heavy geotechnical equipment
  • Work alongside mechanics on hydraulic system maintenance and repair
  • Read and interpret blueprints including weld symbols and fillet specifications
  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance and repair on shop and field equipment
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner
  • Support field equipment returning from project sites across the country
  • Perform other shop duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Operate horizontal band saw with accurate cuts
  • Safe operation of die grinder, angle grinder, power drill, air hammer
  • Perform other shop duties as assigned by supervisor
