About The Position

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a full-time, Welder to perform repairs and fabricate heavy construction and mining equipment at our Altoona branch. This is a 2nd shift position with hours from 3pm-1:30am Monday-Thursday. Ziegler, founded in 1914, is a third-generation, family-owned CAT dealer with over 2400 employees across 30+ locations. Requirements

2-year technical college degree/certificate in welding or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable welding experience
Able to operate spot welder, arc welder, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sander, hand-tools, bandsaw, drills, temporary fixturing devices, and other metal-fabrication equipment
Able to read dimensional blueprints
Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

Nice To Haves

Experience with gauging and measuring preferred
Own mechanic tool set – preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Perform welding and fabrication
Maintain equipment such as dressing welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and other adjustments as necessary
Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge
