About The Position

The Fabricator operates and setups fabricating machines such as shears, press breaks, presses, forming machines, punches that cut, shape and bend metal plates, sheets, and structures by performing the following duties below. The position requires meeting and/or exceeding daily safety, quality, and production goals. The Fabricator will report equipment malfunctions, operate scanning computers and machine operator interface controls, and prepare product for shipment. This role also involves striving to minimize product waste, inspecting finished products, and documenting quality control measurements. Attendance and punctuality are essential, including the ability to work overtime as required. The role involves cutting and fabricating sheet metal parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, documenting quality inspections, operating machinery, and performing quality control including measurement of tolerances and dimensions.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• One to three year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some PC skills helpful, but not required.
• Effectively communicate with co-workers and management regarding work and safety issues.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Comprehend job training and safety instructions.

Responsibilities

• Setup various, stamping, and support equipment including but not limited to, cut-off presses, punch presses, break presses, bender, and operate forklifts.
• Meet and/or exceed daily safety, quality, and production goals.
• Report all equipment malfunctions to mechanics or supervisors and assist in keeping the equipment operational.
• Operate bar code scanning computers and machine operator interface controls.
• Prepare product for shipment including lifting and stacking product onto conveyors and carts.
• Strive to keep product waste to a minimum; inspect finished products; read and record all quality measurements using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and angle gauges as required by the quality control manual.
• Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required, to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift.
• Cutting and fabricating of sheet metals parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Documentation of quality inspection into the data system.
• Operation of a variety of machinery including presses, brakes, and bender.
• Quality control including measurement of tolerances and dimensions.
