About The Position

The Welder/Fabricator/Saw Operator will weld, cut, fabricate, and paint metal and products by using flame-cutting, hand welding equipment, torch cutting, and machine cutting. In this role, you will read blueprints or technical drawings and make the adjustments for each job. You need to be able to read a tape measure and perform basic math to set stops and guides to the specified length of each job.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding and fabrication including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
  • Must participate in training for all new equipment required to perform job.
  • Understanding design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Thorough understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
  • Must be 25 years of age of older due to insurability requirements for equipment use.
  • Proven working experience working in a warehouse setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Dress and perform job duties in a professional manner.
  • Follow company procedures and employee manual.
  • Familiar with modern warehousing practices and methods.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Experience operating a band and chop saw (1-3 years preferred)
  • Forklift experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area daily.
  • Prepare for a yearly inventory of equipment, tools and other items located in the welding/fabrication area.
  • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  • Set up the saw machine, making adjustments for each job
  • Set stops or guides to specified lengths
  • Operate the saw machine, keeping an eye out for any defects or issues
  • Use measurement tools to ensure accuracy
  • Help transport finished pieces
  • Maintain saw and keep work area clean
  • Report any discrepancies
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations
