About The Position

Carrier’s manufacturing site in Charlotte NC, is seeking a skilled Welder/Brazer II to join our team. This technical role focuses on the end-to-end assembly of metal products, from initial layout to final weld. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in MIG (Pulsed/Short-arc) and Submerged Arc welding, with a proven ability to deliver consistent results in a fast-paced environment. Beyond technical skill, the Welder/Brazer II serves as a steward of workplace safety, ensuring all machinery is operational and all safety standards are met without compromise. This is a 2nd shift onsite role and will include working weekends and over-time when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial welding i.e., Pulsed MIG, Short-Arc MIG or Submerged Arc processes
  • Pass the onsite training for Overhead Crane Operation
  • Pass an onsite 6G certification (Weld Test)
  • Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as, kneeling, lying down and overhead, and climb & work from a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Prior ASME Certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial welding processes, equipment maintenance, and operational best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute vertical, flat, and overhead welds with superior penetration and high-quality aesthetic finish.
  • Proficient in the use of plasma cutters, acetylene torches, and various powered or manual shop tools (e.g., impact wrenches).
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and cut lists with high accuracy.
  • Skilled in applied shop math, including fractions and angles, with precision in using tape measures and angle finders.
  • Formally trained in overhead crane operation and comfortable working from heights/ladders.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills for effective coordination with supervisors and cross-functional departments.
  • Ability to support production needs through overtime and weekend shifts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality assembly of metal products using Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG, and Submerged Arc processes.
  • Perform complex layout and fit-up tasks utilizing fixtures, positioners, and jigs to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Produce structurally sound, smooth, and non-porous welds with consistent penetration.
  • Conduct a variety of brazing functions across all materials, including manual grinding and forming as required.
  • Optimize output by maintaining an efficient workflow while strictly adhering to established assembly procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, proactively report hazards to supervision, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
