About The Position

This is a skilled trade position responsible for expertly brazing and joining metal components and assemblies according to blueprint specifications. The Brazer II operates induction heating equipment, performs system setup, and is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, quality, and repair of all brazed and soldered parts.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial manufacturing, welding, brazing, or a related skilled trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers and micrometers).
  • Working knowledge of equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete industrial floors for the duration of an 8- to 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, and maneuver objects up to 35 lbs independently.
  • Requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching to position workpieces and access equipment.
  • High level of manual dexterity and precise hand-eye coordination for applying brazing alloy and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Must have visual acuity for reading blueprints and technical specifications, and for performing detailed dimensional and quality inspection of finished parts.
  • Ability to work in a typical manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels (PPE required).

Responsibilities

  • Brazes metal components together according to blueprint, work order, or layout specifications, operating induction heating equipment.
  • Positions and clamps workpieces and fixtures into the holding fixture, using precision measuring instruments like a square, rule, and template.
  • Sets up the brazing process, including selecting and configuring the heating coil and adjusting the electrical current for the type and thickness of metal.
  • Applies brazing alloy and flux along the seams to be joined, then starts the electric current to heat the work piece and melt the alloy.
  • Cool or anneal the finished work piece to relieve internal stress.
  • Performs technical tasks for troubleshooting and repair on structural and functional components of systems, which may involve screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, and brazing of parts.
  • May bond work pieces together with soft solder.
  • Verifies conformance of the finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • May perform minor assembly duties, such as fastening parts with nuts, bolts, and screws.
