The role involves documenting inspection results, communicating findings to production management and team members, and initiating actions for nonconforming products. The position also requires initiating preventive actions based on trend data to maintain product and process quality. Additional duties may include LECO analysis, preparing sample boards, and providing data for WTD/LECO charts. Specific tasks include performing weld tear-down requirements with appropriate tools, evaluating welds for thickness and fracture degree, conducting weld nut push-out tests for strength verification, determining weld acceptance criteria, and documenting all results. A key aspect of the role is maintaining awareness and compliance with various procedures, work instructions, and controlled postings related to destructive testing, material containment, product identification, traceability, and visual SPC operations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with tools such as Plasma cutter, vice, pliers, torque wrench, push-out tester, thread gages, calipers, micrometers.
  • Ability to evaluate welds per required frequency to verify thickness and degree of fracture.
  • Ability to perform weld nut push out to determine > specified minimum strength.
  • Ability to determine welds / nugget acceptance criteria per part inspection check sheet requirement.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with: Push-Out Destructive Testing Work Instruction, Rejected Material & Product Containment Work Instructions, Product Identification & Traceability Work Instructions, Visual SPC Operation Work Instruction, Weld Tear-Down Process Flow Chart / Weld Tear-Down Tool Box Training, Beyond Minimum Customer Requirements Controlled Posting (Ford Customer Specifics).
