About The Position

This position reports to the Quality Manager then Vice President (VP) of Quality and is responsible for inspecting parts, verifying Poka-Yokes, and identifying and correcting quality risk. The role requires a GED or High School Equivalency diploma and the ability to read micrometers, calipers, and indicators. Blueprint reading, knowledge of computers, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), and cut & etch process are a plus.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
  • General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Working knowledge of all poka-yokes.
  • Competent on how to use and train others on correct use of torque wrenches, force testers, calipers, indicators, and all other inspection equipment used for weld machine inspection.
  • Ability to organize and manage all inspection and poka-yoke checks.
  • Conscientious in being at work when scheduled and on time.
  • Perform the highest possible amount of quality work in the least or standard amount of time.
  • Follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Do good quality work the first time, avoiding rework.
  • Make good quality decisions as it relates to the job functions.
  • Exhibit problem solving skills.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Always be conscious of the safety implications of one's actions; consistently observe safety regulations and wear required safety equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first and last piece layouts in a timely manner.
  • Accurately read part prints.
  • Understand gage calibration, and know when a gage is in need of calibration or repair.
  • Manage assembly hold area.
  • Carefully audit multi-out parts to verify labeled correctly.
  • Actively assist in training of operators in quality checks.
  • Ensure green tag is properly completed and at correct work center at the start of a run.
  • Precisely monitor quality checks during production.
  • Communicate accurately all pertinent employee quality performance information to group leader and above.
  • Ensure gages that are needed for each job are at the specified work center.
  • Have working knowledge of all poka-yokes.
  • Accurately understand the machine reset process and how to ensure no defective parts get out during this process.
  • Be competent on how to use and train others on correct use of torque wrenches, force testers, calipers, indicators, and all other inspection equipment used for weld machine inspection.
  • Keep first/last piece part bins up to date (last 2 production runs).
  • Organize and manage all inspection and poka-yoke checks.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.
