About The Position

This position reports to the Quality Manager then Vice President (VP) of Quality and is responsible for inspecting parts, verifying Poka-Yokes, and identifying and correcting quality risk. This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Must be able to read micrometers, calipers, and indicators. Blueprint reading, knowledge of computers, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), and cut & etch process is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first and last piece layouts in a timely manner.
  • Can accurately read part prints.
  • Adequately understands gage calibration, knows when a gage is in need of calibration or repair.
  • Able to manage assembly hold area.
  • Carefully audits multi-out parts to verify labeled correctly.
  • Actively assists in training of operators in quality checks.
  • Ensures green tag is properly completed and at correct work center at the start of a run.
  • Precisely monitors quality checks during production.
  • Communicates with accuracy all pertinent employee quality performance information to group leader and above.
  • Ensure gages that are needed for each job are at the specified work center.
  • Has working knowledge of all poka-yokes.
  • Accurately understands the machine reset process and how to ensure no defective parts get out during this process.
  • Competent on how to use and train others on correct use of torque wrenches, force testers, calipers, indicators, and all other inspection equipment used for weld machine inspection.
  • Proficiently keep first/last piece part bins up to date (last 2 production runs).
  • Can organize and manage all inspection and poka-yoke checks.
  • Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.
  • Participate in and support lean manufacturing programs and principles with a focus to reduce costs with quality product such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Suggestion System, etc.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement to continually strive to improve our processes and procedures.
  • Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
  • Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by Batesville Tool and Die (BTD).
  • Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment.
  • Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.
