About The Position

This position is responsible for the organization and supervision of all weight training activities for the Fall season. The coach will oversee the behavior of the entire squad and coaching staff during these activities. Further duties include the supervision and direction of the total program for their sport, safeguarding the physical well-being of participants, controlling behavior at practices, informing athletes of departmental guidelines and policies, and being financially responsible for all equipment in their inventory. The coach will also serve as an advisor to players, demonstrate loyalty to the school's program by supporting all athletic activities and encouraging multi-sport participation, and perform other coaching-related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Experience in weight training and conditioning.
  • Ability to supervise and direct a sports program.
  • Knowledge of OHSAA guidelines, conduct code, policies, and procedures.
  • Financial responsibility for equipment inventory.
  • Advisory and mentoring skills for athletes.
  • Loyalty and support for the school's athletic program and overall educational program.

Responsibilities

  • Organization and supervision of all weight training activities.
  • Responsibility for the behavior of the entire squad and coaching staff at all weight training activities.
  • Supervision and direction of the total program of his/her sport.
  • Directs the work and assignment with the approval of the Athletic Administrator.
  • Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants.
  • Controls his/her behavior at all practices.
  • Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA.
  • Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory. Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season.
  • Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator.
  • Serves as an advisor to the players on his/her squad to help them with problems.
  • Is interested and loyal to the school’s program. The coach is expected to support the entire program, encouraging athletes to participate in other sports, and to be an active participant in striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total educational program of the schools.
  • Performs other coaching-related duties as directed by the Principal or Athletic Administrator.
