About The Position

The Weekend Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the nightly operations of the Phoenix Manufacturing facility, ensuring that all production objectives remain on schedule with proper communication amongst all parties. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for maintaining an environment that prioritizes safety, product quality, and on-time delivery. The Weekend Shift Supervisor will also serve as a communication link between their shift and upper management to provide updates, escalate issues, and suggest improvements to streamline operations. In addition to overseeing employees, the role involves close monitoring of the production process to ensure that all operational goals are met, challenges are addressed promptly, and that resources are effectively utilized. The Shift Supervisor is tasked with leading and guiding the team, while upholding the company’s policies and values to produce flight critical aerospace parts. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.
  • Minimum of ten (10) or more years’ experience in CNC Milling & Turning, Multi-Axis required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment.
  • Experience in CNC machinery, tooling, and programming (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, or similar systems).
  • Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop).
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules with varying hours to support customer commitments, this includes very early mornings and/or evenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled Trade Certification, preferred.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Machines. Including the ability to troubleshoot machines and process issues, providing solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Lead a dedicated team of CNC Machinists and CNC Operators during the second shift, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient operations after normal business hours.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of daily production activities, challenges, and achievements to upper management, facilitating informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Develop the team of Machinists by assisting in job set-ups and coaching operators, when needed.
  • Act as a liaison between the Production Manager & Machinists to escalate any concerns, issues, or complaints.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager and Leads to ensure a smooth handover and continuity of operations; including but not limited to addressing any employee related concerns.
  • Conduct a final walk-through of the building prior to closure to identify any issues or potential risks, and initiate security protocols.
  • Assigns jobs and machines to operators, monitors technique, quality, and quantity of production, troubleshoots, and assists operators with machining problems.
  • Provide daily direction, training, and assessment of peers for development. Document required assessment that includes a summary of performance, further development recommendation and/or competencies during a review period.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline.
  • Assists supervisor in monitoring tooling, materials, quality concerns and production.
  • Inspect work completed on CNC Machines for conformance to specifications using bench gauging.
  • Strictly follow Standard Work in all aspects of work including CNC Machine setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance tasks on CNC Machines to maintain machinery performance and prevent machine downtime.
  • Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
  • Utilization of office machines including copiers, scanners, phone systems, computers (including email), and other standard equipment.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control. Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.
  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
  • Other tasks as required.
