Weekend Residential Counselor
About The Position
Provide guidance and support to students ages 12–18 who live in a residential treatment setting at Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center in Towson, Maryland. The program is a year-round therapeutic educational and residential program for youths with emotional and behavioral challenges, with structured community and recreational activities and full-day special and general education schooling. Work closely with students as they pursue goals, overcome challenges, and develop the skills to lead fulfilling lives. The position offers experience and training in therapeutic approaches while working with children and adolescents in a structured psychiatric program. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.–11 p.m., and the work is in person.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- A valid driver’s license at time of appointment and eligibility to meet Sheppard Pratt requirements to operate a vehicle are preferred for most positions.
Responsibilities
- Reinforce students’ daily living skills and maintain structure and organization in the residential setting.
- Organize daily recreational activities, ensuring students have access to fresh air, leisure activities, and exercise.
- Encourage and reinforce behavior according to program standards.
- Provide complete and accurate documentation.
