About The Position

The Weekend Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, ensuring quality resident care, and maintaining regulatory compliance during weekend hours. This role provides leadership and support to nursing staff, addresses real-time concerns, and ensures smooth daily operations in the absence of weekday leadership.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Virginia

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
  • Long-term care or assisted living experience preferred
  • Experience with PointClickCare preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial rounds at the start of each shift to assess residents' and staff's needs
  • Ensure resident care plans are being followed, including restorative programs
  • Monitor for changes in resident condition and ensure appropriate interventions are initiated
  • Verify that all incidents have appropriate follow-up, including documentation and assessments
  • Ensure interventions are added to the care plan/ISP as needed
  • Run and review 24-hour report (or 72-hour report if applicable) in PointClickCare
  • Review recent physician orders and ensure implementation
  • Audit MAR/TAR completion and documentation accuracy
  • Complete chart checks for new admissions for completeness and accuracy
  • Review hospice documentation and ensure coordination of care
  • Monitor for overdue or upcoming assessments and ensure completion
  • Follow up on medication refusals, medication not available issues, and missing documentation
  • Review incidents from prior shifts and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
  • Confirm ongoing monitoring (up to 72 hours as indicated)
  • Ensure all required assessments are completed in a timely manner
  • Communicate significant findings to on-call leadership as needed
  • Monitor clinical dashboard/alerts and address or escalate concerns
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies and state regulations
  • Perform routine audits (MAR/TAR, documentation, care plans)
  • Ensure nursing stations are organized and compliant
  • Provide clinical guidance and leadership to nursing staff
  • Address call-offs and coordinate staffing coverage
  • Handle real-time staffing concerns and team conflicts
  • Assist on the floor as needed to support safe operations
  • Provide real-time education and coaching
  • Address and resolve family concerns professionally and promptly
  • Provide updates to families as appropriate
  • Ensure resident dignity and satisfaction are prioritized
  • Oversee meal service to ensure proper diets and timely assistance
  • Ensure staff assist residents appropriately with meals
  • Monitor for nutritional concerns and communicate issues
  • Assist with or oversee admissions and discharges
  • Ensure proper documentation and care planning for new admissions
  • Support smooth transitions of care
  • Communicate key updates to leadership for follow-up
  • Ensure continuity of care through documentation
  • Serve as primary clinical leader on weekends
  • Maintain visibility on units and be available to staff
  • Assist on the floor when needed
  • Manage clinical and operational issues in real time
  • Ensure proper handoff to weekday leadership
