About The Position

Everstand is an independent not-for-profit organization serving over 1,000 children annually across 12 locations with approximately 800 teammates across DC, MD, PA, and WV. This position manages the overall order and operations of the UMHC (PA) Everstand’s programs, providing leadership, coaching, and direction to staff and families. The role involves understanding and implementing agency policies, working effectively within an interdisciplinary team, and demonstrating excellence in problem-solving, communication, and documentation. The supervisor also serves as a liaison to community partners, provides support for direct care staff and campus operations, and partners with the On-Call Supervisor for staff coverage.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with 1 year work experience with children.
  • OR An associate’s degree and/or 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university with 3 years work experience with children.
  • Must be certified in Medication Administration through the State of Pennsylvania during employment. (Training provided by the agency).
  • Must be able to type 50 wpm.
  • Able to learn and effectively utilize different technology platforms.
  • Excellent computer use knowledge with Microsoft Windows 10 and 365 Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proven effective time management, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to keep an electronic calendar (Outlook).
  • Ability to pass RCYCP certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.

  • Ability to pass CPR/First aid certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to demonstrate the possession of a valid driver’s license prior to employment and ability to maintain the license and operate a motor vehicle thereafter.

  • Ability to pass a Tuberculosis Screening both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a work-readiness physical performed by a certified medical professional both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a Federal and State Fingerprinting Background Check both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen via urinalysis both prior to employment and randomly thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Model and act in accordance with Everstand’s core values.
  • Demonstrate and practice trauma informed leadership.
  • Provide accurate, detailed, and timely information to the designated Administrator on Call regarding health and safety concerns, environmental accidents, motor vehicle accidents, arrests, serious hospitalizations, and major campus or community incidents.
  • Provide accurate, detailed, and timely information to the designated Administrator on Call when requesting to activate the therapist on call.
  • Contact the TOC with accurate and detailed information related to the youth’s behavioral health emergency.
  • Ensure that the campus is operating within the contractual staffing ratios for each program area and/or to meet the current safety needs.
  • Report attempts to find coverage to the Administrator on Call when requesting to activate the Mandatory on Call Staff, utilize OT or initiates a freeze.
  • Complete the Overtime Utilization Form each time an AOC approves the use of OT.
  • Complete rounds throughout the campus providing oversight, coaching, and guidance to the staff and youth.
  • Provide feedback to staff regarding health and safety concerns.
  • Document health and safety concerns on the Campus Supervisor Shift Report.
  • Check the logbooks during rounds to ensure that documentation is current and consistent with the current activity.
  • Contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the Everstand’s Behavior Management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.
  • Provide direction and support to the Lead Treatment Support Specialists regarding job assignments, emergency situations, feedback to incidents, and scheduling.
  • Participate in a pre-shift huddle with the exiting Campus Supervisor and Lead Treatment Support Specialists.
  • Ensure accurate medication administration, documentation, and safe storage of medication in accordance with the guidelines of the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Assign a CMT to assist with Medication Administration in the absence of a nurse.
  • Communicate medical emergencies to the Nurse on Call.
  • If youth need off-site treatment, in the absence of the nurse, gather relevant paperwork such as the health visit form, face sheet, and a copy of the insurance cards.
  • Communicate follow-up needed through email to the youth’s treatment team.
  • Manage the assigned Campus Supervisor emergency vehicle to ensure it is available as needed.
  • Assist staff with making sure vehicles are rotated and/or shared to help support the transportation needs of the campus.
  • Conduct walkie-talkie checks and community-based check-ins as outlined in the Campus Supervisor Overview Report.
  • Promote effective communication through the timely submission of documentation.
  • Submit the Campus Supervisor Report at the end of each shift.
  • Submit thorough and accurate documentation, with any additional supporting documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Provide written documentation addressing policy violations that occur in the absence of the staff assigned supervisor.
  • Professionally interact both by phone and in person with parents/guardians, placement agencies, lawyers, police, community partners, and others invested in the care of the youth served.
  • Provide coverage for direct childcare services, ensuring that twenty-four hours, seven days a week, childcare services are met.
  • Contact the on-call administrator to report any matters relevant to the Child Protection Act, any resident’s criminal involvement, resident and/or staff safety issues, and emergency situations related to the agencies physical state.
  • Complete campus rounds every hour to ensure that agency functioning is not breached and each unit is adequately supervised.
  • Ensure that the staff to resident ratio is adequate and consistent with the agency policy and unit needs by providing coverage in units as necessary.
  • Contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the UMHC’s Behavior Management and SCM techniques.
  • Participate as a member of each resident’s Interdisciplinary Treatment Team for the purpose of treatment/discharge planning and reviews.
  • Effectively communicate both written and verbally with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Monitor therapeutic activities throughout campus.
  • Manage the campus supervisor telephone and problem-solve any issues that may arise on campus.
  • Ensure a supervisor and/or campus supervisor is present on campus whenever there are 16 or more children present.
  • Conduct job-related trainings on a yearly basis.
  • Promote effective communication through the timely submission of documentation and weekly team meetings.
  • Demonstrate the ability and knowledge of conducting an initial admission or residents into the agency.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of daily routines and the need for consistency within the unit.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to complete accurate bi-weekly timesheets.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete an accurate staff schedule, while minimizing and/or eliminating overtime.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of unit systems, and effectively oversee their completion.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety standards through ensuring compliance throughout the agency.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the various programs at the UMHC in order to adequately orient and guide staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to receive, transmit, store, and retrieve information as evidenced through written documentation in a record log and verbal communication.
  • Obtain and maintain certification as a “user” in Everstand’s electronic health record software system.
  • Provide training and onboarding to Supervisors, Directors, and Campus Supervisors across all of Everstand’s programs.
  • Provide campus-based tours as needed to our community and faith-based partners.
