About The Position

These positions are responsible to the Camp Director to assist in providing and maintaining an efficient, safe and meaningful Girl Scout Leadership Experience and Camp Programming. Responsibilities include assisting in program areas such as Waterfront (Lakes and Pool), Nature, Arts and Crafts, Archery, Hiking, Night Program, and other miscellaneous programming that may include kitchen support and camp kapers. Staff are expected to cooperate and participate fully in all planning and programming of activities, understand and help campers respect each other, and be responsible for the health and safety of campers and staff. They will also submit required records and reports, help maintain equipment, take a leadership role in program areas and camper units, and help provide camp and unit cohesiveness. Additionally, staff will guide activities and experiences through girl planning and the GSLE Program. For the Kitchen Staff, responsibilities also include assisting in all areas of kitchen operations, adhering to health and safety standards, maintaining customer service, and keeping the Kitchen Supervisor informed of any issues. Both roles require willingness to accept Girl Scout principles, be 18 years or older, have current First Aid and CPR certification (and Food Handler/Serv Safe for Kitchen Staff), enjoy the outdoors, possess good communication skills, and be able to share living quarters with other staff.

Requirements

  • Willing to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and accept the relevance and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.
  • Accepts and adheres to the purpose and principals of the Girl Scout Movement.
  • Supports all GSOC policies and procedures.
  • Is 18 years of age or older.
  • Current and valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Have an enjoyment and appreciation for the outdoors.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to keep supervisor informed and aware of activities/problems with campers.
  • Ability to share living quarters with other staff in the out-of-doors, which may include rustic cabins or dormitory cabins.
  • Holds current and valid certification for Food Handlers in Riverside County, Serv Safe (for Kitchen Staff).
  • Experience working in food service (in a camp setting preferred) (for Kitchen Staff).

Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties as delegated and take a positive leadership role in program areas and camper units.
  • Help to provide and maintain camp and unit cohesiveness.
  • Help guide activities and experiences in the camp units through the use of girl planning and the GSLE Program.
  • Perform other duties as delegated.
  • Assist in all areas of kitchen operations: food supply and delivery, preparation, serving, cooking, cleaning, and dishwashing as needed (for Kitchen Staff).
  • Adhere to the health and safety standards set by the County of Riverside (for Kitchen Staff).
  • Keep the Kitchen Supervisor informed in a professional, timely, and accurate manner of any and all issues involving camper and staff food service (for Kitchen Staff).
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to those participating in camp (for Kitchen Staff).
