Weekend Cabinet Helper
About The Position
This is an entry-level position in the Components Division. The selected individual will be trained in all areas of the division, which include 10 work cells: Handwork, Lowes, Foiler, Edge bander, Saw Operator, Packaging, Driver, Hand Assembly, Assembly Robot, and Molder. Pay levels are based on demonstrated proficiency: Level 1 is entry-level; Level 2 requires proficiency in five work cells; and Level 3 requires proficiency in six of the 10 work cells. The position requires working in a general mill environment with high noise, dust, and forklift and pedestrian traffic. Personal protective equipment, including hearing protection and safety glasses, is always required.
Requirements
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and operate a variety of woodworking machines.
- Be detail-oriented, with an emphasis on quality.
- Read, comprehend, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Understand and carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
- Walk and stand for over two-thirds of the shift.
- Use and reach with hands and arms.
- Climb or balance for over one-third of the shift.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for over one-third of the shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection and safety glasses.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Use digital calipers in metric and English measurements and use a tape measure.
- Troubleshoot machine problems.
- Learn to identify defects in material.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Perform general housekeeping of the machine and immediate area.
- Support the team in achieving Safety, Production, and Quality goals.
- Use the SPC System as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
