About The Position

Under general supervision, fabricates the most complex cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies for installation in aircraft. Assists the lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance, assistance, and training to co-workers. This full-time position is based in GAC Appleton and works a weekend day schedule from Friday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Employees work 36 hours per week and are paid for 40 hours. Travel may be up to 25%.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Three years of cabinetmaking experience.
Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
Computer literacy.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

Aerospace industry experience.
Working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications.

Responsibilities

Fabricate complex, high-quality furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using stationary and handheld tools.
Interpret material specifications and design and engineering drawings to ensure finished products meet design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail.
Coordinate with supervision to ensure compliance with customer-approved design samples.
Use a variety of woodworking tools and techniques.
Comply with and champion safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and protect aircraft interiors.
Work with the lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety and reduce cost, cycle time, and labor hours, using Lean Six Sigma and other process-improvement techniques.
Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
Accept lead responsibilities when required; mentor and train less-skilled technicians.
Oversee projects and coordinate with the lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
Conduct safety audits and assist team members in conducting safety audits.
Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
Coordinate with other backshops when necessary.
Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
