About The Position

The WEC Specialist - GY HT role focuses on achieving proficiency in performing multiple combinations of Gyro, Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and Gyro While Drilling (GWD) operations. This involves applying surveying theory and technology, utilizing all relevant tools and equipment, and mastering specific software like Gyrodata/slb software, Field apps, SharePoint, and Multivendor. The role also requires adherence to quality assurance systems and standards, using service and maintenance manuals, and performing hands-on tasks such as checking, testing, assembling, installing, collecting data, and disassembling tools and equipment in the field. A key aspect of the role is presenting survey results to clients, preparing comprehensive documentation, and performing general shop duties. Additionally, the specialist must comply with client safety and training requirements, which may include offshore, deep water, international, high pressure, or high temperature environments, and travel as directed to perform job duties, including rotating assignments in various regions.

Requirements

  • Strong written and oral English communication skills
  • High School Diploma, GED, or regional equivalent
  • Successful completion of Surveyor Trainee position or equivalent experience
  • Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record
  • Ability to drive extensively to well sites in remote locations and work at well site locations
  • Ability to work non-office hours and weekends as necessary
  • Ability to perform duties according to on-call schedule
  • Proficiency with computers, including accessing and sending email, opening and revising documents, accessing the internet, and using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical or mechanical field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a similar field from an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Experience in the oilfield services industry

Responsibilities

  • Perform multiple combinations of Gyro, Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and Gyro While Drilling (GWD) in accordance with local area requirements.
  • Apply surveying theory to survey operations.
  • Apply survey operations technology.
  • Use all tools, gear, and equipment to perform survey operations in the field.
  • Utilize Gyrodata/slb software, including Field apps, SharePoint, and Multivendor.
  • Apply slb/Gyrodata Quality Assurance systems and standards.
  • Use field service manuals while performing survey operations.
  • Use preventative maintenance manuals.
  • Check, test, assemble, and install tools and equipment in the field.
  • Collect surveys and/or additional data.
  • Remove and disassemble tools and equipment in the field.
  • Present survey results to clients at jobsites.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for client jobs, including job tickets, daily reporting, end-of-well reports, and all applicable administrative paperwork.
  • Perform general shop duties for tools and equipment, including testing and verifying.
  • Comply with client safety and training requirements (e.g., offshore, deep water, international, high pressure, high temperature) and provide corresponding documentation.
  • Travel as directed to perform job duties, including rotating assignments in various regions.
