The Website Manager owns the performance, optimization, and day-to-day management of Second Harvest Heartland's website and digital experiences. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this hands-on role manages website enhancements, landing page development, analytics, conversion tracking, and ongoing improvements that support organizational goals and constituent engagement. Combining technical website expertise with data-driven decision-making, the Website Manager ensures the website is effective, accessible, measurable, and continuously improving. Working closely with Marketing team members, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, this role uses data and user insights to improve engagement, conversion, and discoverability across key audiences. This position offers the opportunity to help shape and mature Second Harvest Heartland's web strategy and digital capabilities over time, making it an ideal role for a growth-minded professional who enjoys both hands-on execution and strategic problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, Information Systems, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-7 years of experience managing websites, digital marketing programs, or digital experiences.
  • Experience working within modern CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, Sitecore, HubSpot CMS, or similar systems.
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager (GTM), conversion tracking, and digital measurement frameworks.
  • Experience using user behavior analytics, heat-mapping, session-recording, A/B testing, or similar optimization tools to evaluate and improve website performance.
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting to communicate website performance and inform decision-making using Looker Studio, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and website performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to use website performance, user behavior, and conversion data to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
  • Understanding of SEO fundamentals, website accessibility standards, technical website health, and user experience best practices.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Experience leading conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives and structured website experimentation programs.
  • Experience supporting website redesigns, CMS migrations, or platform modernization projects.
  • Experience integrating CRM, marketing automation, or constituent management platforms with website experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, optimization, and day-to-day management of Second Harvest Heartland's website and digital experiences.
  • Build and optimize webpages and landing pages that support fundraising, volunteer recruitment, advocacy, and awareness goals.
  • Implement website enhancements that improve user experience, accessibility, engagement, and conversion.
  • Maintain site health, including accessibility standards, mobile responsiveness, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to prioritize and execute website improvements.
  • Own website analytics, measurement, and conversion tracking using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager (GTM), and related tools.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators and develop reporting that connects website performance to organizational goals.
  • Analyze traffic, user behavior, and conversion funnels to identify opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead testing and optimization efforts that improve engagement and conversion outcomes.
  • Improve website visibility through SEO best practices, technical optimization, and content strategy.
  • Monitor emerging trends in search and AI-powered discovery to identify opportunities for increased reach and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for website-related initiatives.
  • Partner with Marketing, Data & Analytics, IT, and external vendors to execute website priorities and improvements.
  • Evaluate tools, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that improve website performance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure website compliance with accessibility, privacy, security, and governance requirements.
