About The Position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Website Copywriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of content-first design principles and be adept at creating compelling, conversion-focused copy that aligns with our clients’ brand voice and goals. In addition to writing, this role requires the ability to produce low-fidelity wireframes and content outlines to ensure a seamless handover to our design team. This is a freelance role, building a pool of trusted copywriters and strategists for ongoing projects. Projects involve website builds for B2B and B2C clients across a wide range of industries. Content work typically splits into two phases: narrative & messaging strategy, and copywriting. You may be engaged for one phase or both, depending on the project and your skillset.

Requirements

  • Strong track record of writing website copy across various industries and brands.
  • Experience writing for businesses with complex offerings.
  • Ability to shift voice and tone without losing sharpness.
  • Understanding of the relationship between copy and design.
  • Experience working in or alongside design teams.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and an understanding of how content performs in search (including AI-assisted search).
  • Familiarity with Figma, comfortable working in the tool alongside the project designer.
  • Ability to share hourly rate for copywriting work and narrative & messaging strategy work (including currency).
  • Ability to share a short note on types of web copy projects worked on and self-placement on the junior to senior spectrum.
  • Ability to share a link to portfolio or a couple of web copy examples.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running content strategy workshops.
  • Experience leading clients through developing messaging frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop narrative and messaging direction for websites, working closely with project designers.
  • Present strategic content recommendations and initial copy concepts to clients.
  • Develop polished, SEO/AEO-optimised, on-brand website copy from first draft through revision rounds to design handoff.
  • Produce low-fidelity wireframes and content outlines.
  • Create compelling, conversion-focused copy that aligns with clients’ brand voice and goals.
