This position is for a 12-hour day shift rotating (7:00AM to 7:00PM). The schedule involves working Monday, Tuesday, Friday in Week 1, and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday in Week 2. The role involves preparing the press for a run by verifying job specifications and setting up the press accordingly. Responsibilities include inspecting the fountain solution, inking systems, paper rolls, and reel mechanisms, maintaining paper inventory, and recording usage and spoilage. The assistant will ensure paper rolls are properly unwrapped, mounted, and ready for splicing, monitor paper flow during the run, and prepare and install new rolls as needed. This role also involves collaborating with press operators and other assistants on preventative maintenance, assisting maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs, and potentially aiding with make-readies. Adjustments to ink, solvent, and varnish may be required to maintain proper color. Adherence to and promotion of all safety policies and procedures, including hazardous waste handling, lock out/tag out, and personal protective equipment, is mandatory. Other related duties and participation in special projects may be assigned. Employees are responsible for following documented processes as defined in the ISO Quality Manual.
