About The Position

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Temporary Web Developer to support website development and digital accessibility initiatives. This position will assist with maintaining and improving university web properties built on WordPress, ensuring content meets institutional standards for usability and accessibility. The developer will collaborate with staff to implement updates, improve site functionality, and help ensure digital materials comply with web accessibility standards. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update university websites built in WordPress, including content updates, layout adjustments, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement web design and development improvements to enhance usability, performance, and accessibility.
  • Ensure websites follow digital accessibility best practices? (e.g., WCAG guidelines).
  • Conduct accessibility remediation for digital documents including PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Work with staff to identify and resolve accessibility or functionality issues.
  • Assist with testing and quality assurance across browsers and devices.
  • Document processes or updates as needed.
