About The Position

The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for positioning UNDP as the world’s leading global development agency, promoting its global authority and thought leadership on sustainable development and the interconnected issues of poverty, inequality, and climate change. BERA leads and supports UNDP in building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances essential to achieving its mission. Creating strong political and financial backing for UNDP by providing partners and supporters with a clear understanding of what UNDP does and how our mission, capabilities and flagship services relate to them. BERA coordinates and sets corporate standards across the functions of partnerships, marketing and communications within UNDP and leads on internal communications. Within BERA, the Digital Communications Studio plays an essential role to develop and manage UNDP’s global online presence, creating compelling public-facing content, leading on social networks and digital engagement, building capacities for greater impact through digital communications, and helping build a strong brand for UNDP. As part of an organization-wide digital transformation, the team has recently launched a major overhaul of UNDP’s corporate websites (including the enterprise web CMS) rolled out in 2021, which continues to require finetuning, features testing and upgrades. To help with this endeavor the Digital Communications Studio is looking for a Web and Social Media Editor (French) to manage UNDP’s corporate web site and social media presence in French. The Web and Social Media Editor (French) is part of the Digital Communications Studio team and will be supervised by the Web Copywriting Specialist.

Requirements

  • Advance university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Social Science or related field is required.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional 2 (two) years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are required to have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism or another relevant field.
  • Fluency in French and English required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage UNDP’s global social media channels (Twitter and Facebook) in French, including determining goals for reach and engagement, planning and implementing social media strategies, and evaluating effectiveness through reporting and analytics.
  • Create, edit, and produce content in French for the global public web site and other digital platforms, including soliciting or curating content, reviewing and editing web stories, headlines, video scripts, and photo captions, translating or reviewing translations from English to French, and researching and selecting visual assets for multimedia stories.
  • Produce and publish content on the French global web site using the corporate digital experience platform (Drupal/Acquia).
  • Conduct maintenance and quality assurance of the corporate website by continuously monitoring French corporate website and digital platforms, checking for outdated information, poor functionality, and user experience shortcomings, correcting errors, implementing upgrades, and suggesting front-end and back-end user experience improvements.
  • Curate the French homepage of the corporate website to ensure alignment with corporate communications priorities.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing by identifying, synthesizing, and documenting best practices and lessons learned.
  • Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation related to UNDP’s digital communications ecosystem.
