About The Position

The Office of Financial Resources Management (OFRM) plays a crucial role within the Bureau for Management Services (BMS) and UNDP's global finance function, collaborating with Bureaux and Country Offices. OFRM's main objective is to uphold UNDP's financial integrity by providing financial leadership, supporting efficient and effective financial resource management, and promoting financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation amidst a fluctuating funding environment. This is achieved through the development and implementation of sound financial policies and practices, oversight of corporate financial management performance, and offering flexible and scalable support for resource allocation. OFRM generates key financial information for the Executive Board, the General Assembly's corporate audit strategy, and provides external support to Partners and civil society. It enhances transparency by delivering timely and high-quality statutory and other financial reports that adhere to international public accounting standards and UNDP's regulatory guidelines. The audit coordination function is part of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. It supports the implementation of the corporate audit strategy and aids in the planning and coordination of external and internal audits. BMS/OFRM contributes to UNDP’s operational performance and organizational effectiveness by providing audit management support, analysis, and advice in collaboration with relevant stakeholders across UNDP.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Audit, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required. Or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum 2 years (with master’s degree) and 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of directly relevant experience in the area of audit, compliance and/or oversight assurance.
  • Experience in Audit (external or internal), Finance, Accounting, Business management
  • Experience in Research and Analysis
  • Experience in MS Excel and Power Point
  • Experience in Report writing
  • Fluency in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant audit and assurance experience in a large external or internal audit firm
  • Work experience in UNDP, UN system or international or multi-national organization in audit or audit coordination
  • Experience in advanced Excel desirable
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish as a second language desirable
  • Specialized professional certification in Auditing, Finance (CIA, CFA), or qualified accountants (CPA, CA etc), will have a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate communications between UNDP and UNBOA
  • Coordination of UNBOA audit visits to headquarters, bureaus and country offices
  • Facilitation of responses from headquarters, bureaus and country offices to UNBOA requests for information
  • Conduct data collection and provide analytical support related to UNDP’s audit performance, including periodic review of audit reports, audit recommendations, and the utilisation of tracking tools to report on the status of UNBOA and OAI recommendations
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer through the preparation of briefings, reports, data visualizations and presentations for senior management, including the Organizational Performance Group (OPG), the Executive Group (EG) and the Executive Board, ensuring a consistency and coherent approach to preparation and presentation of information on financial management matters
  • Support the review of Audit Observation Memorandum, audit reports and preparation of management responses to ad-hoc requests from internal units and/or external third parties
  • Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned
  • Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization

Benefits

  • UNDP will cover the cost of travel of the individual to the duty station, as well as their return to their home upon completion of their services. Travel costs are covered only in the event that the function will be undertaken physically in the duty station and excludes working from home arrangements.
