About The Position
Lightly AG is an AI startup pioneering in machine learning and computer vision, backed by Y Combinator and top-tier investors. Their technology is used by global leaders in autonomous driving, medical imaging, and visual inspection. They are looking for experienced Weather & Meteorology Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help evaluate AI-generated weather forecasting and event analysis for a new project. The minimum expected time commitment is 10 hours per week, and accepted candidates should start within the next few weeks.
Requirements
- Background in meteorology, atmospheric science, climate science, or environmental science.
- Ability to verify weather events against historical records.
- Familiarity with US city-level weather data (temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, pressure, cloud cover).
- Understanding of how weather events impact downstream systems (energy demand, agriculture, transportation).
- Strong analytical and written communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated weather forecasting and event analysis.
- Verify weather events (storms, heatwaves, cold snaps, precipitation patterns) against historical records.
- Analyze US city-level weather data including temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, pressure, and cloud cover.
- Assess the impact of weather events on downstream systems such as energy demand, agriculture, and transportation.
