About The Position

Make a difference in your community while helping young people and families discover the environment around them! This position supports youth and family programs at The WaterShed by leading engaging environmental education lessons, exhibit hall experiences, and tours for visitors of all ages. You’ll help create fun, welcoming, and educational experiences for our community while continuing to strengthen how we communicate and deliver programs. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, teaching, and connecting others to environmental topics.

Requirements

• Must be an undergraduate student.
• Ability to engage and work with the public, including working with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
• Ability to apply customer service techniques.
• Ability to utilize basic computer skills.
• Ability to exercise tact, patience, diplomacy, cultural sensitivity and courtesy when dealing with people.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
• Ability to perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.

Nice To Haves

• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Prior experience working with the general public or children.

Responsibilities

• Teaches place-based environmental education programming and events designed for a range of audiences, from preschool aged children to adults.
• Conducts community outreach as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service while interacting with the public in the exhibit hall and outdoor areas.
• Supports education coordinators with a variety of tasks, including room set up and clean up, inventorying and restocking of supplies and compiling educational materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
