About The Position

YMCA Camp Greenville is seeking a cause-driven leader to coordinate its waterfront and related activities at an overnight camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Waterfront Coordinator oversees waterfront operations, leads lifeguards, and helps provide a safe and enjoyable environment for campers and staff. The role also includes supporting cabin leaders when not working in the program area and occasionally filling in for them. The coordinator is expected to uphold camp values and approach the work with integrity, creativity, enthusiasm, and professionalism, while supporting campers’ mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old by June 2027 (the posting states “June 20227”).
Hold current Deep Water Lifeguard certification, or have held certification within the last two years and be willing to recertify through the American Red Cross.
Hold CPR/First Aid certification as part of the lifeguard certification.
Have experience managing lifeguards or a waterfront setting.

Responsibilities

Maintain the safety of campers and staff at the waterfront.
Follow waterfront operating procedures and standards.
Plan, direct, and supervise a safe and enjoyable waterfront program.
Train staff, maintain equipment, and manage supervision and safety.
Coordinate bi-weekly in-service sessions for lifeguards and key staff, as well as camper waterfront check-in.
Support cabin leader staff when not in the program area and fill in for cabin leaders at times.
Work with participants from all backgrounds.
Serve as a role model by upholding camp values and acting with integrity, creativity, and safety in mind.
Help ensure campers’ mental, emotional, and physical well-being during their time at camp.
Adhere to consumer-boundary policies, complete required abuse-risk-management training, follow procedures for high-risk activities and consumer supervision, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.
