About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm with more than 2,800 professionals. JMT is seeking a motivated Water/Wastewater Section Head in Charleston, South Carolina, to develop the water/wastewater section in a collaborative workplace. The position has potential for career advancement, including developing and leading the regional water/wastewater engineering practice.

The Section Head is responsible for the department’s business development, financial success, and staff management at the local level. The role oversees project delivery, staff development and growth, quality control processes, and business development planning and execution. It coordinates with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and internal staff. The successful candidate will bring technical and project-management skills and a willingness to understand and contribute to the business side of the practice, including business development, client management, financial performance, staff development, and product and service quality.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders.
• Establish and grow the section’s market presence through marketing and business development.
• Manage the department’s financial budget and allocate resources accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to proposal production.
• Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff.
• Establish staffing and resource needs for the section.
• Interview and hire staff for the section.
• Conduct staff performance reviews using input from project managers on assigned teams.
• Lead and manage team members through setting expectations and goals, providing feedback, holding one-on-one meetings, and coaching to support their growth and development.
• Oversee project delivery, staff development and growth, and quality control processes.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and internal staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
