About The Position

Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater Northeast is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operator in Kittanning, PA. This role involves visiting contracted treatment plants, conducting overall operation and maintenance under the guidance of a licensed operator, and monitoring effluent quality. The position requires maintaining a thorough knowledge of sample handling, storage, preservation, and holding times, as well as understanding drinking water and sewage treatment processes and requirements. The operator will also be responsible for paperwork, communicating with supervisors and customers about plant parameters, and interacting with DEP officials. Developing and maintaining good customer relationships and knowledge of wastewater, drinking water, and groundwater operations are key. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Possession of a current, valid motor vehicle operator’s license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required.
  • Possession of a valid, Water and wastewater operators certification as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection or pass test of such certification no later than 3 years (full-time) in this position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English

Responsibilities

  • Visit contracted treatment plants as required.
  • Under guidance of the licensed operator in charge, conduct overall operation and maintenance of the treatment plant and effluent quality assessment monitoring.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of sample handling and storage.
  • Maintain current, thorough working knowledge of Drinking Water requirements.
  • Stay current on all sample bottle and preservation requirements.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of sewage treatment processes & effluent quality requirements, drinking water treatment processes & requirements.
  • Stay current on sample collection, sample handling & storage, sample holding times, sample preservation, sample log-in, sample recording and successful completion of related paperwork including chain of custody and work orders.
  • Notify and/or follow-up with your supervisor and/or customers if any of the plant parameters are close or over the permit level.
  • Demonstrate a general knowledge of and compliance with the test procedures, quality control policies, safety procedures, and ethical & legal responsibilities.
  • Interaction with DEP officials as required.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationship with all the customers/plant owners.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of wastewater, drinking water and ground water operations.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
