About The Position

AECOM’s Water Business Line in Buffalo, New York, is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern to work with its water/wastewater group. The internship gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience in engineering design and infrastructure projects, with opportunities to learn industry practices, use technology, collaborate with experienced professionals, and develop technical and professional skills. Interns receive duties intended to provide a broad learning experience and support the transition from student to professional. The position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027. Relocation and housing assistance are not available, and sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future. Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.

Requirements

Be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or another related field and have completed at least one year of study.
Candidates who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently pursuing or planning to continue with a master’s degree are eligible.
Graduates not pursuing a master’s degree must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree program in the most recent school term.

Nice To Haves

Completed university coursework in water-related subjects such as Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources, Hydrology, or Environmental Chemistry.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Previous internship experience.

Responsibilities

Support the water group by preparing design drawings, plans, technical reports, and details for water and wastewater projects.
Complete assigned duties that build hands-on skills and provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience.
