The City of Glendora seeks a highly motivated, customer service-focused professional to join the team in the Water Division of Public Works as the Water Utility Worker I/II or Trainee (determined on qualifications). The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and interest or experience in water distribution system construction, maintenance, and repair. Successful candidates will assist with maintaining and improving the City’s water distribution infrastructure, including pipelines, valves, hydrants, meters, and service connections, while supporting safe and reliable water delivery to the community. This position supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water transmission and distribution system and related facilities. Duties include installing and repairing water mains and service lines, operating valves and hydrants, responding to service requests, assisting with leak detection and emergency repairs, and performing routine system inspections and maintenance. Incumbents will also assist with traffic control, trenching and excavation activities, equipment operation, and ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with City standards and regulatory requirements. Ideal candidates will bring experience or interest in water utility construction, distribution system maintenance, public works field operations, and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning technical skills, solving field problems, and working collaboratively as part of a crew. Candidates should be motivated to develop their knowledge of water distribution systems, safety practices, and applicable regulations while advancing within the Water Utility Worker career series.
