About The Position

NACG is seeking a Water Truck Operator to join their remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers up to a combined rate of up to $45.60/hour as well as room for growth. The work site is Fort Hills, with a schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off, alternating between day and night shifts. Camp accommodation and transportation from Edmonton or Calgary (flights) or Fort McMurray (bussing) are provided. Overtime is provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Water Truck Operator
  • Minimum one year experience in mining atmosphere
  • Class 1, or Class 3 or Q endorsement for air brakes
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid CSO or BSO
  • Silica Awareness
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness
  • Hydroden Sulphide
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness
  • Be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening, Criminal Record Check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with trash pumps and wiggle wagons will be an asset.
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Water Trucks in a mining or heavy construction earthworks environment
  • Complete pre-use equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Complete field level risk/hazard assessments prior to tasks and as tasks change.
  • Participate in the safe fueling and servicing of equipment
  • Follow mine driving rules
  • Interact with other contractor and client equipment
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including all required PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Report any necessary repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
