About The Position

Jefferson County Stone – Rogers Group, Inc. – Louisville, KY is seeking candidates to fill our need for an Underground Articulated Water Truck Operator. The water truck operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a motor grader in our underground mine. This position plays a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the underground haul roads, ensuring safe travel conditions for heavy mobile equipment and personnel.

Requirements

  • Dedication to safe work practices.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in tight, low-clearance, underground environments
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to perform general laborer and clean-up duties on the ground and in the plant as needed/directed.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment using ladders, handrails, steps, etc.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions to include hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and low-light underground conditions.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed.
  • Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating a articulated truck is preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating additional heavy equipment (dozer, water truck, loader, scaler, etc.) is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an articulated water truck in an underground mine to apply water for dust suppression and road conditioning
  • Maintain proper moisture levels on haul roads, travel ways, loading areas, dumping points, and other designated areas
  • Monitor roadway and ground conditions and report hazards such as ruts, potholes, standing water, or ground deterioration to supervision
  • Conduct required pre‑shift, mid‑shift, and post‑shift inspections of the water truck
  • Identify, report, and document mechanical or safety concerns with equipment
  • Refill water tanks and ensure spray systems, hoses, and nozzles are functioning properly
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other equipment operators using radio systems
  • Follow all MSHA regulations, mine policies, traffic rules, and site‑specific procedures
  • Maintain situational awareness of employees and other mobile equipment in confined underground spaces
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned
