About The Position

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Water Truck Operator to support surface operations at the Jerritt Canyon Mine in Elko, Nevada. This is a project-based role supporting underground mine restart activities, offering an opportunity to work on a high-impact mining operation. This position is ideal for individuals who prioritize safety, take pride in equipment operation, and can work effectively in dynamic site conditions.

Requirements

  • MSHA certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)

  • Previous experience operating water trucks or similar heavy equipment preferred

  • Ability to perform inspections and basic equipment checks
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow site procedures

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an 8,000-gallon water truck in accordance with site rules and manufacturer guidelines
  • Perform and document pre-operational inspections (fluids, tires, brakes, lights, articulation joint, etc.)
  • Maintain full control of the vehicle across varying road and weather conditions
  • Ensure safe loading, transport, and controlled discharge of water
  • Monitor tank systems, including hoses, valves, and pumps, for proper function
  • Communicate effectively using site radio and follow all traffic protocols
  • Report hazards, incidents, and mechanical issues immediately
  • Complete all required logs, reports, and documentation
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and post-operation checks
  • Verify system integrity (tank, valves, pump functionality)
  • Operate only on approved haul routes and maintain safe speeds
  • Maintain safe following distances and situational awareness
  • Position equipment safely for water discharge operations
  • Prevent spills, overflows, erosion, or unsafe discharge conditions
  • Follow proper parking, shutdown, and lockout procedures when required
  • Comply with all site-specific safety policies and MSHA regulations
  • Wear required PPE at all times
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings (personnel, equipment, terrain)
  • Follow traffic management and right-of-way rules
  • Monitor ground conditions, including slopes and soft areas
  • Prevent water-related hazards such as spills, icing, or runoff
  • Adhere to fatigue management and work/rest schedules
