About The Position

The Water Truck Driver plays a critical role in supporting field operations by safely transporting and distributing water for dust control, soil compaction, and site maintenance. This position reports to the Field Supervisor and works closely with site crews to ensure safe and efficient job site conditions. This role does not manage direct reports but requires strong coordination and communication with field teams. This role involves working in a fast-paced, field-based environment where conditions can change quickly depending on project needs. Water Truck Drivers typically work outdoors and travel between multiple job sites around Forest Hill, NC. The schedule may include extended hours, weekends, and overtime based on operational demands. You will spend the majority of your day operating equipment, coordinating with field crews, and ensuring proper dust suppression and water distribution across active work zones. Work conditions may include exposure to varying weather, rough terrain, and active construction zones. Safety is a top priority, and adherence to company policies and PPE requirements is mandatory. Teamwork, communication, and reliability are essential, as this role directly impacts site safety, efficiency, and overall project success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating water trucks or similar heavy equipment.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements. Class B or Class A required
  • Proven ability to safely operate heavy equipment in active construction or disaster recovery environments.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as required by project needs.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to wear PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, uneven terrain, and noisy environments.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment and perform repetitive movements.
  • Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on disaster recovery or emergency response projects.
  • Familiarity with construction or environmental service job sites.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • OSHA safety certification or similar training.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a water truck safely and efficiently to transport and distribute water across assigned project sites.
  • Perform dust control activities by spraying roads, work zones, and debris areas to maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper working condition.
  • Monitor water levels and refill truck as needed to maintain continuous operations.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company safety standards, and site-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors and crew members to prioritize watering schedules and locations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of vehicle usage, maintenance, and daily activities.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Support additional site activities as needed, including general labor tasks when not operating the truck.
