About The Position

Responsible for the proper loading, unloading, and moving of sand and gravel materials in the plant/yard as directed. This role involves maneuvering trucks, dumping product at designated sites, identifying and resolving safety and maneuverability issues, learning and organizing aggregate materials, and maintaining effective radio communication. The operator will also perform routine inspections and maintenance on assigned equipment, keep the equipment clean, and undertake other required functions and duties. Additional responsibilities include assisting with plant services such as greasing bearings, changing crusher screens, shoveling material, assisting mechanics with oil changes and hose replacements, changing conveyor belts, bearings, and rollers, and emptying trash cans. A strong work ethic, ability to take direction, and adherence to company policies and safety procedures are essential.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required
Candidate must be drug free.
Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds from floor to 3’ – 6’ occasionally.
Must be able to push or pull up to a maximum force of 100 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to climb in and out of equipment 50+ times per day.
Must be able to climb up and down ladders occasionally.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and/or service heavy construction machinery and concrete mixers and haul trucks.
Must be able to travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement.
Must be able to see, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery.
Must wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves.
Must observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery.
Must continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.
Must work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally.
Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
Treat customers, co-workers, and inspectors courteously at all times.
Properly follow company, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and promote the company safety program.

Responsibilities

Maneuver truck and dump product at designated site in the yard.
Identify problems with the dump site related to safety, maneuverability, etc. and work with the manager to resolve them.
Learn site aggregate materials to be able to differentiate between the products to keep them in correct and orderly locations.
Use the radio properly keeping the Manager informed of all relevant information and problems.
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
Thoroughly clean interior and exterior of the equipment as scheduled or instructed.
Perform other functions and duties as required or directed.
Help service plants including greasing the bearings on the plant.
Change screens on crushers.
Shovel dry and/or wet material, sometimes a full shift.
Help mechanics when equipment is down including changing oil, hoses, etc.
Help plant mechanics change conveyor belts, bearings, rollers, etc.
Empty trash cans into dumpsters.
