Denver Water is hiring for a limited-term position with an expected end date of November 1, 2028. Applications may also be considered for future Water Treatment Technician LTE and full-time positions. Limited-term roles are full-time appointments with the same rights, benefits, and responsibilities as regular employees, but with an expected end date; the appointment may end earlier, on time, or be extended depending on project needs. The Water Treatment Technician is an entry-level role performed under direct supervision. The employee trains in and performs work necessary to operate and maintain water treatment plants and related structures. The technician learns conventional physical and chemical treatment methods, conducts process-control laboratory analyses, uses SCADA to manage and control operations, and provides routine metrics and data analytics to help ensure a safe, high-quality public water supply. Plant Operators A and B work under general supervision to operate and maintain potable and recycled water treatment facilities. They use physical, biological, and chemical treatment methods to produce water meeting state and federal regulations and Denver Water quality goals. The work includes monitoring and controlling plant processes through SCADA, conducting laboratory analyses, responding to alarms, maintaining treatment systems and equipment, and supporting compliance, safety, and facility operations. Operators may serve as shift ORC at a single plant, cross-train for asset management, and assist with training and operating documentation. The positions may require reporting to multiple treatment plants, working outdoors in varied weather, performing on-call duty, and working shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as directed. Employees must perform safety-sensitive functions, respond appropriately to emergencies and hazardous-material spills, and wear respiratory protection, including self-contained breathing apparatus, when required. Respiratory protection testing may be required. Employment offers may be contingent on satisfactory post-offer drug and alcohol testing; a strength test may also be conducted because of the physical requirements. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; Denver Water will not sponsor an employment visa.
