About The Position

Denver Water is recruiting for Water Treatment Technician and Plant Operator positions. Applications may also be considered for future full-time and Limited Term Employment (LTE) Water Treatment Technician positions; LTE roles are project- or program-based and typically have a predetermined expected end date. Water Treatment Technicians are entry-level employees who, under direct supervision, train on and perform work necessary to operate and maintain water treatment plants and related structures. They learn conventional physical and chemical treatment techniques, perform process-control laboratory analyses, use SCADA to manage operations, and provide routine metrics and data analytics to help deliver a safe, high-quality water supply. Plant Operators A and B work under general supervision to operate and maintain potable and recycled water treatment plants and related structures. They use physical, biological, and chemical treatment techniques, including conventional and advanced processes, along with SCADA technology, to produce water that meets regulatory requirements and Denver Water quality goals. The work includes monitoring and adjusting treatment processes, conducting laboratory analyses, maintaining records and equipment, and responding to alarms and emergencies. Operators may fill in or cross-train for asset-management work as needed. These are safety-sensitive roles. Employees may need to respond to emergencies and hazardous-material spills, wear respirators including self-contained breathing apparatus, and work outdoors in varied weather. Employees may be assigned to multiple treatment plants and may be required to work shifts, on-call duty, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Employment offers may be contingent on satisfactory post-offer drug and alcohol testing; a strength test may also be conducted. Employees in safety-sensitive roles or roles requiring a CDL are subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; Denver Water does not sponsor employment visas.
