About The Position

Team Gilbert is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Water Treatment Plant Mechanic I, II, III. The focus is on providing best-in-class service to citizens while offering opportunities for professional growth in a rewarding, innovative work environment. The Water Treatment Plant Mechanic reports to the Water Treatment Utility Supervisor. This position is an At-Will, non-exempt position eligible for overtime compensation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid AZ Driver's License.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Up to 1 year of specialized or technical training beyond high school is desired (Level I).
  • 1 year or more of specialized or technical training beyond high school is desired in Water/Wastewater Technology (Level II).
  • 3 years or more of specialized or technical training beyond high school is desired in Water/Wastewater Technology (Level III).
  • ADEQ certification in: Water Distribution Grade I and Water Treatment Grade I desired at time of hire (Level I).
  • ADEQ certification in: Water Distribution Grade II and Water Treatment Grade II at time of hire or promotion (Level II).
  • ADEQ certification in: Water Distribution Grade III and Water Treatment Grade III at time of hire or promotion (Level III).
  • Certifications indicating skill towards welding, fabrication, pipe fitting, electrical application (Level II & III).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance of water treatment plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to determine the length of downtime to allow temporary solutions during repairs.
  • Fabricate critical process components to evaluate the choice of material for compatibility.
  • Repair mechanical failures affecting the water treatment plant process while considering the cost of repair versus replacement.
  • Repair plumbing and piping which affects the water treatment system in a timely manner.
  • Stay current on up-to-date technology for efficiency.
  • Support operational staff by satisfying water production needs and meeting plant operational capacity, supplementing process change for desired outcomes.
