Water Treatment Plant Mechanic Lead
About The Position
The Water Treatment Plant Mechanic Lead supports water production and system demands at a water treatment facility or remote sites. The role works with a supervisor on budget development and monitoring, monitors SCADA usage and trends to anticipate future system needs, and conducts daily equipment monitoring, readings, and sampling. The employee is expected to stay current on technology relevant to operational efficiency and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Water Treatment Utility Supervisor and is designated as medium work, with most of the workday spent in a water treatment plant facility environment. The tentative start date is November 23, 2026. The recruitment timeline is subject to change based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Three years of experience in water treatment and mechanical maintenance.
- Five years of experience in water systems and pumps.
- Valid Arizona driver's license.
- ADEQ Grade 2 Water Treatment Certification and Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification at the time of hire or promotion.
- ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment Certification and Grade 3 Water Distribution Certification within one year of hire or promotion.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience in fabricating and industrial plumbing.
- Certification in welding, fabrication, or journeyman trades training.
- One year or more of technical training beyond high school in water treatment.
Responsibilities
- Work with the supervisor in budget development and monitoring.
- Monitor SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) usage and trends to predict future system trends.
- Monitor equipment daily, record readings, and perform sampling to check equipment.
- Support water production and system demands at a facility or remote sites.
- Stay current on technology for efficiency and regulatory requirements.
