About The Position
Garratt-Callahan is hiring a Water Treatment Chemical Service Technician to support sales and maintain existing customers in Memphis, Tennessee, and the surrounding Western Tennessee and Northern Mississippi territory. The technician performs water treatment testing and analyses at industrial and commercial customer sites, including manufacturers, data centers, medical centers, and commercial buildings. The role works from home within the territory and offers opportunities to work and train alongside veteran Territory Managers. The stated career track is to train toward becoming a Territory Manager. The technician helps address customers’ water problems and treat industrial boilers and cooling towers for energy efficiency and environmental performance. The role also supports sales of Garratt-Callahan chemical blends, equipment, monitoring technology, water safety programs, and related water-treatment products and services. The posting offers technical support, continuous and advanced training, and a clear career path into sales. First-year compensation is stated as $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience and ability to succeed; the role also includes a monthly car allowance and travel expenses.
Requirements
- A four-year science degree is required to qualify for the position.
- Must be a capable chemist.
- Must live in Memphis or nearby in Western Tennessee and be familiar with the area’s industrial marketplace.
- Must not require employer-sponsored work visa sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- A technical degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or Water Resources.
- One year of technical sales experience or an internship related to water treatment chemicals; the employer is willing to train and mentor.
- Outside industrial sales experience.
Responsibilities
- Solve customers’ water problems.
- Treat industrial boilers and cooling towers to help keep them energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
- Perform detailed water testing and analyses at industrial sites, manufacturers, data centers, medical centers, and commercial buildings.
- Support sales of Garratt-Callahan’s chemical blends, equipment, and monitoring technology.
- Perform passivation of stainless steel in industrial water treatment systems.
- Help sell corrosion and scale inhibitors, coagulants, flocculants, biocides, bio-augmentation, feed and monitoring equipment, water management plans, and reverse osmosis products.
- Help sell Water Safety Programs.
- Maintain and support existing customers.
- Help bring on new industrial customers.
- Train toward a potential career as a Territory Manager.
