About The Position
Join our dedicated team as a Water-Sewer Repair Specialist I and help maintain the vital infrastructure that keeps our community running. Under the guidance of experienced managers and specialists, you’ll perform essential work related to the installation, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of storm and sanitary sewer systems and the Water Distribution System.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to perform basic math and maintain simple records
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license
- Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (or the ability to obtain within 6 months through the City's in-house entry-level driver training program)
- Must be a non-smoker and refrain from all tobacco/nicotine use during employment
Nice To Haves
- Experience in water distribution or sewer maintenance preferred
Responsibilities
- Install and repair water mains, valves, and fire hydrants
- Make service taps using tapping machines or boring equipment
- Locate and repair water main breaks and sewer line damage
- Clean storm and sanitary sewers using specialized equipment
- Operate dump trucks, pickup trucks, and vac truck units
- Maintain curb valves and inspect sewer systems for leaks
- Participate in seasonal programs like leaf pickup
- Uphold safety standards and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
