About The Position

Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join their team in Aberdeen, SD. This role is ideal for a civil engineer with 0-3 years of experience who is looking to specialize in water resources. HEI is a full-service civil engineering, surveying, environmental, and technology solutions consulting firm with multiple locations throughout the Midwest. Water resources engineers at HEI work on a variety of exciting projects including design work for dams, levees, lakes, streams, stormwater management, flood risk reduction, watershed planning, hydraulic structures, and other projects related to Water Resources Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering.
• 0-3 years of experience in Civil Engineering
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
• Solid critical thinking skills, along with attention to detail.
• Positive attitude under pressure, strong team player, responsible, and self-motivated.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future.
• Valid Driver’s License and in good standing with periodic travel necessary

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Autocad Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design various project features and ArcGIS for watershed planning.
• Prepare design computations and quantity estimates under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
• Assist in preparation of reports, specifications, plan creation, and permit applications.
• Interface with CAD and GIS designers and coordinate with other engineering departments on complex multi-discipline projects.
• Assist in client contact and communications.
• May include onsite construction observation and other field work duties including surveying, stream assessments, and wetland delineations.
