Requirements

  • Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field
  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Inspections: Perform inspections and surveys of facilities that discharge wastewater and assess their compliance with environmental requirements
  • Review Records: Evaluate reports, permits, and monitoring data to identify potential issues or violations
  • Collect Samples: Gather wastewater and environmental samples to support chemical and bacteriological analyses
  • Assess Compliance: Determine whether facilities meet laws and permit standards and recommend corrective actions when necessary
  • Document Findings: Prepare reports, enter data into electronic systems, and communicate results to supervisors and facility staff
  • Support Investigations: Assist with the investigation of spills, pollution incidents, and water quality complaints
