About The Position

The Water Quality Laboratory Program Manager is responsible for managing all laboratory water quality databases for daily water quality operations. This role aids to ensure the water quality databases are in compliance with all laboratory regulations required by The National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program Institute (TNI) & Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP). Serves as a super-user of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) platform company-wide, maintaining the integrity of the LIMS application for all users and managing all LIMS related projects including the execution of a strategic data management plan for water quality. This position is also responsible for supporting Water Quality and Laboratory related special projects. The Water Quality Laboratory Program Manager role is expected to serve in End-user development (EUD) or end-user programming (EUP) for LIMS, as required. This position will report to the Chief Water Quality Officer and is located in San Jose, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Three years of experience working in water quality compliance
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid California Driver License

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), including recommending upgrades to the existing system, creating reports, providing user training, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manages Water Quality software projects company-wide of various scope, schedule, and budget
  • Provides ongoing maintenance support for Water Quality applications
  • Serves as Company-wide subject matter expert on all things related to the Laboratory Information Management system
  • Acts as the primary contact for the data management process between IT, and LIMS users and provides end-user support on LIMS applications and all LIMS related issues
  • Responsible for the execution of a strategic data management plan for water quality and other related laboratory special projects
  • Prepares special reports for senior management, districts, and regulatory agencies using LIMS
  • Work closely with water quality personnel, vendors, and other IT professionals to understand the needs of the staff and clients, configure LIMS in a manner that addresses those needs and maximizes the system's potential
  • Assists with troubleshooting and systems configurations, work closely with the IT team to resolve networking issues, participate in disaster recovery exercises
  • Trains applicable Company personnel on LIMS, related WQ databases, water quality regulations, and all other water quality-related topics; provides guidance to all water quality staff on LIMS problem-solving and regulatory compliance
  • Works closely with the IT team to resolve networking issues reported by laboratory employees
  • Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned
