About The Position

Neogen is seeking a Quality Manager - Laboratory Services to lead and manage the Quality and Performance Officers within the Laboratory Services department. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality of services and implementing Quality Management Systems that comply with ISO/IEC 17025 and other mandated standards. The manager will maintain an 'audit ready' state for the QMS and support daily laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in physical science, chemistry, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with laboratory setting.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents in English.
  • Ability to read computer screens in English.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of team members and in front of other general group meetings.
  • Ability to perform routine, college level mathematical operations, including statistical functions.
  • Solid knowledge of computers and OS systems as well as the ability to effectively communicate electronically.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point is also required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a technical management role is preferred.
  • Prior experience of successfully implementing and managing a quality management system accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 or a similarly robust conformity assessment standard is desirable.
  • Experience in presenting scientific results to diverse audiences is preferred.
  • Experience in diagnostic kit validation is preferred.
  • Statistical software experiences a positive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct line management, including appraisals, development, performance monitoring, and competency assessments.
  • Support and motivate staff to problem-solve and promote good practices.
  • Engage with Accreditation Body assessment audits, provide evidence of compliance, and manage the resolution of improvement actions.
  • Pro-actively seek service delivery improvements, respond to complaints, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Managers to identify opportunities for capability development, innovation, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.
  • Implement quality management systems compliant with ISO/IEC 17025, leading project plans and ensuring compliance with Managers.
  • Manage the internal audit program, addressing priorities, reporting, and ensuring effective closure of non-conformances.
  • Ensure the laboratory is always 'audit ready'.
  • Participate in and assist with the development of business cases for Quality Management System changes.
  • Supervise and assist in daily laboratory activities, providing updates to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Tabulate and graph data, and prepare technical reports for senior personnel.
  • Work with R&D and technical services on product validations.
  • Potential international and domestic customer visits, tradeshows, and Neogen global locations (5% travel).
  • Participate in External Proficiency programs as appropriate.
  • Carry out any other duties deemed reasonable by management.
