About The Position

Neogen is looking for a Quality Manager - Laboratory Services that will provide leadership and first line management to the Quality and Performance Officers, to ensure an effective quality of services for the Laboratory Services department. To provide specialist advice and knowledge to the regional management team and unit staff to ensure the successful implementation of Quality Management Systems that adhere to the requirements of ISO/IEC17025 and similar mandated quality standards. Manage the QMS to ensure we remain ‘audit ready’ and to provide leadership and assistance in the laboratory’s day to day functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in physical science, chemistry, or related fields
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with laboratory setting.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents in English. The person must be able to read computer screens in English. Ability to speak effectively in front of team members and in front of other general group meetings.
  • Ability to perform routine, college level mathematical operations, including statistical functions.
  • Solid knowledge of computers and OS systems as well as the ability to effectively communicate electronically. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point is also required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a technical management role is preferred.
  • Prior experience of successfully implementing and managing a quality management system accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 or a similarly robust conformity assessment standard is desirable.
  • Experience in presenting scientific results to diverse audiences is preferred.
  • Experience in diagnostic kit validation is preferred.
  • Statistical software experiences a positive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective direct line management including appraisal, development, performance monitoring and competency assessments as well as supporting and motivating staff to problem solve and promote good practice.
  • Engage with Accreditation Body assessment audits, delivering evidence of compliance, recognizing valid improvement actions, and managing their resolution.
  • Be responsible for pro-actively seeking improvement to service delivery, responding to complaints or dissatisfaction, and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Work with Managers to identify opportunities to develop capabilities, innovation, improve efficiencies, and reducing costs where applicable.
  • Responsible for implementation of quality management systems that meet accredited quality standards for ISO/IEC 17025, leading project plans and working closely with Managers to ensure compliance.
  • Management of internal audit program, addressing priorities and needs and ensuring appropriate reporting and effective close out of non-conformances raised.
  • Ensure we are always ‘audit ready’.
  • Participate and assist in the development of business cases, as appropriate, to support change around Quality Management Systems and their effective implementation.
  • Supervise and assist in the day-to-day activities in the laboratory with frequent updates provided to the Laboratory Manager. To carry out any other duties deemed reasonable by management.
  • Tabulates and graphs data and prepares technical reports for senior personnel.
  • Work with R&D and technical services on necessary product validations.
  • Potential international and domestic customer visits, tradeshows, and Neogen global locations (5% travel)
  • Participates in External Proficiency programs as appropriate.
