About The Position

The City of Manassas is accepting applications for our Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic with the Manassas Water Plant! This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on all equipment in the water system, including mechanical equipment, plumbing, grounds, buildings/structures, vaults, controls, and instrumentation. The hiring range is: $29.53 – $40.60 per hour, DOQ. The announcement is open until filled and may close at any time.

Requirements

  • Requires High School diploma; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in related mechanical repair and maintenance, preferable in an industrial plant environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical maintenance on all equipment used by the water system.
  • Performs general maintenance on grounds, plumbing, buildings, structures, vaults etc.
  • Performs mechanical hydraulic, pneumatic and minor electrical repairs, excluding major electrical.
  • Performs installation of chemical feed system.
  • Conducts general shop maintenance.
  • Maintain water system process monitoring and control equipment; responsible for the integrity and manipulation of digital and analog process control signals which monitor and/or control various processes.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance performed, all necessary catalogues/cut sheets/operators manuals, and schedule of necessary future maintenance along with pertinent information; completes daily log of status of equipment and file of all work orders; files reports of equipment damage or failure.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts; requests parts required for the repair of equipment as necessary.
  • Provides backup and support for Water Plant Operators: operate the water plant as needed; assist in maintaining water plant boats; sample and treat lake.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
