The Water Metering Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, installation, removal, replacement, repair, rebuilding, servicing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing of all water meters up to one inch in diameter, including seasonal meters and associated connections and valves. This role also involves servicing, programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of water Meter Transmission Units (MTUs), activating and winterizing seasonal water services and meters, and investigating customer-related issues such as high water bills. The technician will operate City water valves, investigate and locate water services, inspect water meters and piping, and respond to customer service requests. They will utilize technology for reporting, record work in electronic systems, and manage appointments efficiently. The role requires liaising with customers and stakeholders, responding to inquiries professionally, and operating various tools and equipment. Reading and interpreting drawings, ensuring compliance with City standards and by-laws, and maintaining a safe work environment are crucial. The technician may also provide training, oversee contractors, perform confined space entry, and travel to various locations, maintaining an assigned vehicle with necessary supplies.
